About the Authors

Jovelyn Q. Yu

Co-Author

Jovelyn Q. Yu has over ten years of experience working as an academic in the Department of Accountancy, School of Business and Economics at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, Philippines.

She teaches undergraduate accounting, finance, and economics subjects and has served as a subject coordinator and reviewer in Management Services in the Integrated CPA review course.Her research interests are in finance, management accounting, and management control systems.

Jovelyn is currently a PhD (Offshore) candidate at Central Queensland University in Sydney, Australia. She completed her Graduate Certificate in Research with high distinction at the same university, and earned her MBA degree specializing in Finance and Strategy from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy Degree, cum laude, from the University of San Carlos and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is a Fellow in Piano Performance at the Royal Schools of Music in London, and currently serves as a Trustee and Auditor for the Music Teachers Network Alliance Philippines Inc.

Stevenson Q. Yu

Co-Author

Stevenson Q. Yu has extensive experience in accounting, finance, and education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of San Carlos and a Master of Business Administration from Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University. Stevenson is a certified public accountant (CPA) in the Philippines and a member of the CFA Institute.

He is currently a full-time assistant professor at the University of the Philippines Cebu, where he serves as the Coordinator of the MBA Program, and has also been a part-time graduate school instructor at the University of San Carlos.

His research interests include educational pedagogy, accounting, and finance, with a particular focus on ESG, equities, and behavioral finance.

He is also an accomplished financial modeler, having won first place in the 2021 CFI Financial Modeling Competition, been a finalist at the 2019 ModelOff Financial Modeling World Championship, and ranked among the top 40 financial modelers by the Financial Modeling World Cup, with a long-term ranking of “Financial Modeling Master.”

Emerson G. Cabudol

Emerson G. Cabudol is a Professor, Researcher, and Consultant with a proven record in Business Administration and Higher Education. His experience spans various industries, including information and communications technology and higher educational institutions in the Philippines, Kingdom of Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.

Emerson has received training in Business Incubation in Turkey and is a certified SAP trainer in Bahrain. He has participated in Project Management and Finance Conferences in Bahrain, UAE, Japan, and Indonesia.

He is well-versed with the standards and processes of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE) and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP), having worked closely with these organizations as a project manager for quality assurance. Emerson is also proficient in the economic models used in finance and business administration.
